Welcome to the Roxana, Illinois environmental investigation information website
for neighbors in and around the Route 111, Rand Avenue and Wood River Refinery west fenceline vicinity.
The purpose of this web site is to provide the public with information
on the ongoing investigation of groundwater in a portion of Roxana as outlined in the figure to the right.
This information has been prepared in accordance with the Illinois Right-to-Know requirements and has been approved
for distribution by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA).
Shell Oil Products US (SOPUS) has been investigating the potential for groundwater impact in the area
of Route 111, Rand Avenue and the Wood River Refinery west fenceline as a result of a historic release from a petroleum pipeline,
as well as nearby refinery operations.
Groundwater evaluation has occurred generally south of Seventh Street, and between Route 111 and the refinery.
Groundwater occurs at depths greater than approximately 35 feet below ground in this area, and is not used for drinking water.
